Abstract

This research includes agricultural changes in the municipalities of Brachoua and Moulay Driss Aghbal in the region of Zaair (diffusion of agricultural inputs, changes in the use of agricultural machinery and increased irrigation areas)and shows the results of these transformations, in particular the negative repercussions (decline of forests and pastures, degradation of the livestock sector...) It also demonstrates the reality of the solidarity and social
economy in the region under study and its role in improving the situation of the agricultural sector and protecting natural resources.
The study was based on two complementary approaches: a quantitative approach and a qualitative approach. We also used the form and observation as tools for data collection and statistical programs to analyze and organize this data.

The results of the studies suggest that the solidarity and social economy is an economic alternative for the region and contributes to the improvement and sustainability of the agricultural sector, where 50% of cooperatives market and value products. 16.7% of them guide and mentor farmers, and 16.7% of cooperatives organize training courses related to agriculture and livestock. In addition, 16.7% of co-operatives provide several other services, such as
providing raw materials to farmers, creating employment opportunities and contributing to the
dissemination of modern watering methods. Cooperatives also play an important role in preserving natural resources through afforestation, rationalizing water use, avoiding the use of toxic substances and chemical pesticides, and raising awareness of the importance of natural resources. According to the field study, 83% of co-operatives are interested in environmental aspects and natural resource management.
